Nursery children at Dalrymple Primary School can continue to enjoy fresh fruit for free thanks to SPAR Dalrymple.

A Scottish Government initiative that gave free fruit to schools and nurseries on a weekly basis was withdrawn earlier this year to the dismay of the entire community.

Since SPAR Dalrymple has demonstrated that it’s very much a store at the heart of the community, through its sponsorship of the local football team and by its contribution of refreshments to the pantomime audience. The School Parent Council approached the store to ask if they would assist. SPAR was delighted to help out and now give a selection of fruit twice weekly to the nursery class.

Store Manager Angela Pattie said “We are delighted to help out within our local communities and promote healthy eating to everyone, especially to young children” And a spokesperson for Dalrymple Primary Parent Council said “We would like to thank Spar for all of their fantastic support. The parents, staff and children of our school really appreciate their generous contributions”
