SPAR SCOTLAND DONATES £2000 TO HELP MAGGIE’S

SPAR Scotland has recently donated a generous £2000 towards Maggie’s Masterclass of Gin Cocktails event.

The Masterclass of Gin Cocktails was a virtual event which allowed people to purchase a pack of Hendrick’s Cocktails ingredients through participating retailers and to then take part in a masterclass of cocktail making via Zoom, led by the ambassadors for Hendricks from the Gin Palace in Girvan.  The event helped Maggie’s raise nearly £50,000 during a period when funds are greatly needed.

Maggie’s helps equip people to cope better with the challenges of a cancer diagnosis. The homely environment gives people the space, time and support to help them deal with cancer.  The charity provide face to face support, online support and support via Zoom to people during these incredibly difficult times where we have seen cancer treatments delayed, operations postponed and anxiety increase through self-isolation and shielding.  People can access the support of their cancer support specialists, benefits advisor and psychologist.

Lorrie Cameron, Centre Head for Maggie’s Lanarkshire said “We are incredibly grateful to SPAR Scotland for generously supporting Maggie’s. During these recent months, fundraising has been significantly affected and the “Virtually Maggie’s” events, of which the Masterclass of Gin Cocktails was one, have been a great way to raise money.  SPAR’s kindness certainly helps us to continue providing our programme of support to those affected by cancer.”
