Convenience retailer Imran Ali’s store at Bourtreehill, Irvine, has joined SPAR, the UK’s leading symbol group for independent retailers.

SPAR Scotland is thrilled to welcome the award winning Bourtreehill community store into the SPAR estate.

Derek Murray, Regional Sales Manager , SPAR Scotland said: “We are delighted to have Bourtreehill join the SPAR family. Imran’s store will be a great addition to our growing portfolio of stores across Scotland.

“We are looking forward to working with Imran at Bourtreehill to enhance the stores fresh range and food to go offering.

SPAR is a brand that is instantly recognisable across Scotland with many of our stores based in local villages and towns.   As a company we’ve worked hard over the last 6 months to significantly improve our product offering to the customer with great market leading deals now being a regular feature in store.

Our warehouse distribution is second to none with much less wastage for retailers on chilled products thanks to smaller pack sizes and the ability to single pick on certain product lines.”

Based in Irvine, Ayrshire, Imran Ali has been in retail for 12 years and owns five stores.

Imran Ail added; “It’s important for us as a community retailer that we have everything our customer needs.

“SPAR offers us the opportunity to provide our customers with the highest standards in retail convenience.

“We decided to join SPAR because it has the best chilled and fresh food offering that will allow us to be competitive and stand out from other local retailers.   SPAR has an award winning own label range that we’re looking forward to stocking going forward.

“We now have the chance to modernise the store and take it to the next level. The support from the team at CJ Lang and Son Limited has been unbelievable with their dedicated retail development managers, chill and fresh experts advising us to improve our store,” he said.

Future plans for SPAR Bourtreehill include adding more services for the local community, like a send/receive parcel service and online delivery service.

The store is looking to do more with the local schools, introduce a plastic recycle initiative, enhance their food to go offer, run workshops for children and organise community projects from within their soft play area.
