SPAR Stores in the Highlands of Scotland clubbed together to make a generous £2000 donation to local charity Connecting Carers.

Members of staff in SPAR stores get the opportunity to nominate charities to receive a donation from the money raised through the sale of single use carrier bags, which now cost customers 5p to purchase.

The charity provides parents and carers the opportunity to take a break from their caring responsibilities. Carers can apply for up to £200 which can be used on many different things from having a weekend away to paying for a membership to join a local club.

Roisin Connolly, Connecting Carers Manager said “Thank you for the very kind donation of £2000.  It will be used to fill a great big hole in our funding pot known as Time to Be”

Stephen Fraser, Area manager for SPAR stores in this area said “We are delighted to be able to support local charities and the great work and support they provide in the community.”
