SPAR Scotland will host a virtual tradeshow on Thursday 5 November 2020 and since issuing invitations, record numbers have already signed up to attend.

The leading symbol group in Scotland is using the occasion as a platform to speak to multiple audiences and deliver a business update.

The virtual tradeshow follows a June hosted webinar for suppliers where the wholesaler took the opportunity to present to its supply base with details of how the business reported growth in both wholesale and retail sales over the course of 2019 and 2020 as well as outlining how its future strategy is built.

The theme for the November event is ‘2020 Vision’. It will be an opportunity for suppliers to promote NPD, new ways of working as well as sharing industry and category knowledge.

Over 150 suppliers from across the entire Scottish supply base and beyond have registered to attend, many of whom will take part in the main stage arena.

The event will include interactive activity where it will be the perfect opportunity for suppliers and partners to connect and learn more about what SPAR Scotland has achieved during the pandemic.

In addition to a full trading update, CJ Lang & Son Ltd, CEO, Colin McLean will give an update on performance and will also share details of full financial year results.

SPAR International will present valuable Covid-19 operational learning’s from the entire SPAR global network.

In attendance, too, will be members from the SPAR Brand team who will highlight own label NPD developments, the Scottish FA, Healthy Living Scotland, and SPAR’s national charity partner Marie Curie.

Independent SPAR retailers, company own store managers and head office staff, trade press, industry bodies, and SPAR UK will also be present.

Colin McLean, CEO of C J Lang & Son Ltd, said: “The purpose of the event will be to update our entire network of how the business has managed during 2020.

“What is fundamentally important to us is that we get this opportunity to thank each person who has gone above and beyond over the past six months.  We are in constant admiration of how well our independent SPAR network of stores has managed and how our wholesale team have supported them.

“SPAR stores have proven how resilient they are and how they care for the health and safety of their local community.  It has been particularly pleasing to continue to support our customers and the communities in which we operate. Donations to local charities and organisations are now more than £200,000.

Our supplier partnerships have also been very supportive and we look forward to working together in the months to come.”
